Stewards Golden Chest can be opened easily if you know the way. There's a daily quest with Elios that must be done before you can open the chest.

Stewards Golden Chest: How to Open

Speak with Elios in Hero's Rest. You'll find the chest next to him, but you need the key first. Elios will tell you about the Steward of the day and their location. Head to the location noted and bring a Ripe Purian to the Steward. In return, you'll get the Steward's Golden Key, which you can take back to Elios and use to open the chest.

Ripe Purians can be found all over Bastion. They will spoil after five days, so you'll have to keep going back to get more if you want to repeat the Steward of the day. If you're having trouble finding the fruit, Stewards near Silver Strongboxes will give you Heightened Olfaction. This will let you see Ripe Purians on your map for five minutes.

The Ripe Purians are also used to unlock a variety of things around Bastio, like Silver Strongboxes. To start the Purian related quests like the one to get the Golden Chest, you'll need to have completed the Fruit of the Gods quest first.
