Does Oswald Survive the Fall in AC Valhalla?

During the quest line, Oswald appears to have died defending the village of Theotford from Rued's clansmen. Eivor tells Theotford Reeve as much during the mission "Raising Iron." But little do they know, Oswald is, in fact, still alive. Rued has simply taken him captive.

Completing the quest line, the player will come face to face with Rued and defeat him in single combat to save the caged Oswald. Oswald continues to play a role in the quest line, setting up a decision that will have long-reaching consequences in the game.
