Warzone's AUG was nerfed but is it still good? Following the April 6hotfix from Raven Software, the AUG, everyone's favorite meta three-round burst tactical rifle, has received a nerf to its recoil. Unfortunately, it does look like the gun will no longer be top-dog, however, it's still an extremely viable weapon in the right circumstance.
?️ A #Warzone update is going live now!

— Raven Software (@RavenSoftware) April 6, 2021Warzone AUG Nerf: Is it Good Still?
In short, the nerf added to the AUG made it so the recoil pattern is a bit more difficult to manage. At range, it'll be harder to hit those consecutive shots that everyone was hitting over and over again. Fortunately, the gun still has a relatively easy recoil pattern to navigate.
If you're someone who was using the FFAR / MAC-10 meta, then the AUG nerf shouldn't affect you too much. It still has the high-performance capabilities it had up close, but for a little more accuracy it might be time to switch to the M16.
As many players know, the M16 is another Tactical three-round burst rifle and was meta for a very short time before the Cold War AUG's buff. Now that the AUG has been nerfed, the M16 has a chance to step into the spotlight once more. It was untouched in the recent fix, and now it undoubtedly outperforms the AUG at range.
If you're running the NICKMERCS' loadout, your M16 will consist of:
- Agency Silencer
- 15.9" Strike Team Barrel
- Axial Arms 3x
- Field Agent Foregrip
- Salvo 60 Rnd Fast Mag
There are plenty of ways that you can build the Cold War M16 to your playstyle, but the attachments above are a good starting point if you've haven't had a chance to use the weapon for long. NICKMERCS recently showed off his Groza loadout. Will the M16 / Groza be the next meta?
