In Elden Ring, Ranni the Witch's side quest line is one of the longer ones in the game, with a few steps that are able to be easily missed.

Ultimately, completing Ranni's quest isn't only well worth players' time thanks to its cool story and plotline, but it is also the way to unlock a secret ending, as well as FromSoftware's customary Moonlight Greatsword, which has made cameos in every game the studio has released aside from Sekiro. Here's a breakdown of how to complete Ranni the Witch's quest in Elden Ring.

Ranni Witch Quest Elden Ring Quest Guide

Players will initially interact with Ranni the Witch after returning to the Church of Elleh in Limgrave early on into the game.

Referring to herself as Renna during this encounter, Ranni will present players with the Spirit Calling Bell.

After that, Ranni claims that players never see her again, which holds true unless you head to Liurnia to find and help her out with her quest.

Ranni is specifically located in Caria Manor in the northern part of West Liurnia. On the way there, be sure to talk to the giant blacksmith Iji for later, and keep an eye out for the hand monsters and a boss named Royal Knight Loretta.

Once out into the garden, you'll notice three towers: Renna's Rise, Ranni's Rise and Seluvis' Rise. Head to Ranni's Rise, which is located in the middle of the three.

After talking to Ranni, and eventually, Blaidd, Iji and Seluvis, the search for the treasure of Nokron, Eternal City will officially begin and the next step is to meet Blaidd at the Siofra River just past the Hallowhorn Grounds inside the underground well.

Blaidd will then tell you that he can see Nokron up above but can't find a way to get there, and that Seluvis knows more about it than he's been leading on.

At this point, head to Iji on the road up to the manor to talk about Nokron, Blaidd and Rena, then to Seluvis' Rise to get the potion for Nepheli and ask about Nokron. Seluvis will give you a letter of introduction to Sorcerer Selen.

Next, head over to the Waypoint Ruins of East Limgrave, south along the road from the Agheel Lake North Site of Grace, and defeat Mad Pumpkin Head in the basement to reach Selen.

After giving Selen the letter, she'll tell you to defeat Starscourge Radahn to unlock the entrance to Nokron. If you'd like, heading back to fill Blaidd in on the latest intel will allow you to fight alongside him against Radahn later on.

Radahn is located at the southeasternmost point of Caelid, Redmane Castle. You can teleport inside of Redmane Castle from the Impassable Greatbridge Site of Grace, which makes rendezvousing with Blaidd much quicker and easier.

After reaching the courtyard and seeing Blaidd and Alexander, the Iron Fist, head up the stair and speak to the announcer to initiate the festival of combat, which despawns most the usual enemies and the mini-boss that usually remain in the vicinity.

Next, proceed through the doors up the stairs, use the lift and enter the portal to face Starscourge Radahn.

Once defeated, all of the stars held by Radahn will return to the sky, with one crashing in East Limgrave.

Head to the south section of East Limgrave to the Mistwood Ruins to find floating rubble and crater that leads into Nokron.

Progress through across the rooftops in a generally northeast direction, until you reach a ledge on the left side that you can walk across. Enter the open window to the northwest here. Make your way northeast from here, dropping down onto the ledge below.

Past the Mimic Tear boss and into the forest with the ancestral warriors will be the Nokron Site of Grace, which leads you to Night's Sacred Ground by jumping across rooftops.

In the center of this area, below the giant finger reader sitting on the throne, you'll find the Fingerslayer Blade in a chest that Ranni is looking for.

Go back to Ranni's Rise and fork over the Fingerslayer Blade to receive the Carian Inverted Statue, which unlocks the Carian Study Hall.

You will now be able to go to Renna's Rise, which houses a chest that includes Snow Witch clothing, as a portal that takes you into Ainsel River.

After taking the portal, find the Miniature Ranni doll, take it to a Site of Grace and rest at it. This will give you the option to talk to it after several attempts.

As explained by the doll, the next objective is to head into Nokstella, Eternal City to kill some Baleful Shadows.

From here, head south through the river to quickly approach the Uhl Palace Ruins. Head through them to find a small river tunnel. Continue forward until you reach a cavern full of flying giant ants. Head to the right and you will find some more gothic buildings. Head through the door on the left and you will reach the Nokstella Site of Grace.

When you've reached the Nokstella Site of Grace, don’t take the stairs, but instead follow the path along the floor. When you reach a building in the south, this has a lift for you to take down to get to the Nokstella Waterfall Basin grace.

Sprint past the Basilisks to find yourself invaded by a Baleful Shadow that looks like Blaidd. After killing it, Ranni will give you the Discarded Palace Key. Head to the Raya Lucaria Grand Library where you fought Rennalla and open the chest to find the Dark Moon Ring.

Head southeast into the building and take the lift further down to the Lake of Rot.

Using various platforms nearby, make your way across the Lake of Rot to the Grand Cloister.

When you reach the Grand Cloister, run down this path, dropping down from the ledge onto ledges below where the centipede pests are gathered.

Don't head towards the room at the end, and instead go right to the stone coffin by the waterfall. Press Rest at Coffin and a cutscene will begin, tipping you over the edge of the waterfall.

You'll then have to face Astel, Naturalborn of the Void. Once he's felled, find the sealed gate at the other end of the boss arena, and use the elevator to take you out of the Ainsel River Well and up onto the Moonlight Altar.

A dragon boss will spawn that you can fight, but if you'd prefer not to, just run inside. In the center of the Cathedral of Manus Celes, there is a hole in the floor you can descend through.

Here, you will find that Ranni has completed her deed, taking back her destiny and eliminating her adversary. Interact with Ranni, and you'll place the Dark Moon Ring on her finger, swearing your allegiance as her consort.

Finally, she'll thank you for becoming her champion and after she disappears, return to the hole to find the Dark Moon Greatsword.
